Case Study 1: HAPPY –
A Mental Health Documentary.
The documentary genre for this short documentary is autobiography and a mix of advocacy. This documentary is talking about depression and mental illness and in the documentary there was others discussing their battles with depression. The conventions used in this documentary is music, interviews, voiceover and some text and some other sound effects. The documentary is also in mid shot most of the time, the documentary would have these features as the director wants it to be and feel like a real documentary. The documentary does have some close ups swell during it when three talking about something important or want to show you something important up close in detail. The music gets the audience attention and it sets the tone of the documentary, which is a good thing because if you have a documentary without music your just gonna hear the people talking in the documentary and it would feel plain so its good that it has background music. To improve it I think that when they were talking about statistics the music didn't really enforce it, the music could of changed at that point to a more dramatic serious tone.
