In this project we had to do a campaign of our chosen issue. The chosen issue i chose was deforestation, i really liked this topic and i learned more about it when i was researching into it more for my research. How i wanted to present this was on print based so things like magazines, leaflets, posters and etc. I chose to do a magazine, website, and a poster. At first i wanted to do a magazine but then i changed to a leaflet as i thought a leaflet would be more suitable to promote a campaign.
At the beginning of this we did a Pecha Kucha and in my Pecha Kucha i was talking about what i was going to do, what campaign issue i was going to do and that was deforestation. After that i went straight onto research and started researching on different causes, problems deforestation has and also effects it has on the earth. I looked at different campaigns such as green peace, and global witness and they have a lot on deforestation and other world and environmental problems. The Greenpeace website has a lot of information about what they do and what there about. Also global witness has useful information to but they are a bit different to Greenpeace but they both work in the same sector issue which is about the environment. When i was doing my Pre production i did a lot of drafts on the leaflet, poster and website. I drew them out then i used adobe programmes like in design and illustrator, Photoshop and also muse for the website. I did make the drafts to see what it could look like. I did take my own photos when i went to the park and i took pictures of trees and forest's and i used them in my leaflet, poster and website.
My campaign compares to Greenpeace it deals with a similar issue that they tackle and also global witness. My leaflet compares to some leaflets i researched like having a logo this shows the charity identity. The way it is laid out and also i saw different types of texts, the leaflets i saw they had different colored backgrounds on them which makes it more interesting. I had to a an idea of what my leaflet could look like so looking at other leaflets helps me to make my own. My poster i actually made up my self, i already had an idea of what it could look like i did do a draft on it and then i did the real poster and i took my own pictures for it. The website i did look at other examples to help me. I also looked at Greenpeace website and global witness website to help me. My main research sources have been protecting the world and the environment and then i came across deforestation. I thought deforestation was a good thing to talk about for a campaign as i am promoting trees and bringing awareness to people because not that many people care about trees and they don't know the benefits of them. Also i researched that a lot of people cut trees down and they don't know the negative effect that can have on the world and us as humans. This is why i chose this because i wanted to raise awareness. I chose to do a leaflet because i thought it was a good way to promote a Campaign. At first i was going to do a magazine but then i changed it to a leaflet because i know a leaflet is better to promote a campaign. I also did a poster and a website, i did a poster because it is a good way to advertise my campaign as also the poster has a website link which people can go on to get and find out more information. The website has a lot of other information like what were about, what we do, asking if people would like to join our company also and asking for donation. Out of all of them the best way to communicate my campaign message will have to be the leaflet. The leaflet has the most information in more detail and also it can be available to anyone and everyone as it is paper based anyone can pick it up and look through it. I think it can hold together as a cohesive campaign with a clear message because its pretty clear what my campaign is about and the message i'm trying to promote is clear it also explains it in my leaflet, poster and website. In my campaign what i was trying to ask my audiences to do was do be aware of this issue because it can effect our future so if they cared they would take it to consideration. The message is clearly stated in my leaflet when i say 'so what you do about deforestation'? I'm saying like so everyone can be involved into solving this issue. My main audience is anyone because this issue effects everyone but mostly teenagers and adults as they would understand and care more and can take part if they wanted to join. I think the leaflet and poster would appeal to my audience as a leaflet is easy access to get and a poster advertises the campaign and it also has a link to the website to let people know that there is a website which has more information. The main difficulties i encountered when doing this campaign project was probably the website. I would say the website because you have to make sure things are laid out properly you need to know what your website could look like. Also time management is something to consider when making a website because it takes a long time to make so i needed to watch out for time before approaching deadline. I would like to improve my website i feel like i could of added more like a blog and other things but i didn't have enough time as deadline was approaching but overall i am pleased with it as it has the main points. I think the most successful thing about my campaign would have to be the leaflet and the poster i feel like i did a good job on the leaflet i had a lot of relevant information and pictures that i took also the poster i felt it was good to, it was clear about what it was talking about.
