Personal Statement

My interest in Photography & Journalism dates back to when I was in secondary school doing media studies and doing photography in the sixth form. When I was in the sixth form I did a a-level photography course for a year and passed I really enjoyed the course and went off to do media studies in another college which gave me insight to…….

My main ambition for university is to deepen and strengthen my knowledge, experience and understanding of ‘journalism’. The reason I am applying for higher education course in journalism is because I have always loved photography and with journalism there’s more to that there’s also making magazines newspapers

Final version

My interest in Photography & Journalism dates back to when I was in secondary school studying media studies and photography in the sixth form.  I achieved a C grade for photography at AS level and I really enjoyed the course.

My main ambition for university is to deepen and strengthen my knowledge, experience and understanding of ‘journalism’. The reason I am applying for higher education course in journalism is because I have a passion for photography and a deep interest in news. My interest has developed throughout last year and the start of this year studying a UAL Level 3 extended diploma in creative media (TV and Film). This year we are working towards our final major project which is to come up with an idea for a campaign. I am going to produce a magazine, leaflet and a poster, and I am going to use photoshop and indesign, to produce my final product, I have a strong interest in the digital finishing of photographs.

This year we have been on a trip, we went to the 'welcome collection' museum and library in Central London. I had to photograph the things I was interested in which I then had to talk about it in a presentation. I really liked the art work there and statues, there was a lot of medical history facts that I learnt there to. Alongside with it there was a lot of ancient materials there which I found interesting.

During my free time, I enjoy going out with friends, watching films, youtube and documentaries. I also enjoy reading books and I love dancing. When I was in my high school sixth form I completed work experience in boots which I enjoyed because I have never worked before and this gave me skills and a great deal of of knowledge of how the workplace functions. I am now volunteering at Northwick park  hospital which I really enjoy. This has made me learn many new skills and I like to help others. I am always eager to learn and my confidence and teamwork skills have improved.

If given a place, I look forward to exceeding the expectations of the course I enter through hard work and , and welcome, with open arms, the next stage of my life.
